RESUMO
Este trabalho objetiva esclarecer quais são as responsabilidades profissionais, legais e contratuais do cirurgião-dentista no atendimento aos portadores de diabetes mellitus. Este estudo de revisão de literatura foi realizado mediante pesquisa bibliográfica realizada na base de dados BVS (Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde) e portal periódicos CAPES. Foram encontrados 169 artigos utilizando os descritores e suas combinações de acordo com a metodologia proposta. Após a leitura dos títulos e resumos foram selecionados 44 artigos. No âmbito civil, o cirurgião-dentista é obrigado a restabelecer o equilíbrio jurídico alterado através da reparação pecuniária. Penalmente, o mesmo é submetido à pena privativa de liberdade ou pena alternativa imposta pela justiça.
This study aimed to clarify what are the legal and contractual professional responsibilities of the dentist in the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus. The study of literature review was conducted through search in the BVS (Virtual Health Library) database and the CAPES portal of scientific journals. One hundred and sixty-nine articles were found using the keywords and their combinations according to the proposed methodology. After reading the titles and abstracts, 44 articles were selected. In the civil context, dentist is required to restore legal balance by monetary compensation. Criminally the dentist may be submitted to deprivation of liberty or alternative sentence imposed by justice
